EMPOWER

Income generation is a cornerstone of Maloto’s empowerment initiative. Maloto purchased land for the woman where they have been growing food for the feeding program and using the excess to generate income by selling in local markets.

An exciting new initiative Maloto embarked on is value added agriculture. One of Maloto’s board members, Meredith Brokaw went to Malawi and showed the woman how to can tomatoes. The training was extremely successful and the woman have been canning since May 2011. A business has been born. They have orders! They have income! They have success!

Maloto also supports HIV/AIDS outreach clinics and community service programs. These programs are critical to preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS.
